Transporting Cannabis

When transporting cannabis it must be sealed in an odor-proof, child resistant package and reasonably inaccessible.

  • lllinois already has a law on the books that makes drivers with THC blood concentration of five nano grams or more per milliliter guilty of driving under the influence, regardless of whether the driver is impaired.

  • The new law creates a DUI Task Force led by Illinois State Police to examine best practices for roadside testing. Illinois law makes it illegal for a driver who’s a medical marijuana cardholder to use marijuana in the passenger area of a motor vehicle on a highway. But a driver or a passenger may possess medical marijuana in a motor vehicle if it is in a “sealed, tamper-evident” medical marijuana container.
